Welcome to Truth and Purpose Homeschool Academy, a dedicated space for families seeking a meaningful, enriching homeschooling journey. Founded by Jacinta Watts Johnson in 2015, Truth and Purpose embodies a mission of teaching truth and fostering purpose in every child's education.
What began as "Blaque’s Homeschool" evolved after Jacinta realized she wanted a name that better reflected her goals—not just to educate her children but to instill in them a foundation of truth and a strong sense of purpose.
Jacinta’s homeschooling journey was sparked by her second oldest daughter's challenges in traditional schools. Her daughter faced relentless bullying in a "prestigious" all-girls school, where the response to the bullying was to send the victim to counseling, leaving the bully’s behavior unchecked. A similar experience occurred in 7th grade, where the response to bullying was, "that’s just how he is." Even after relocating, the bullying continued when the perpetrator coincidentally moved into the house behind theirs. The breaking point came in 8th grade, when the school's solution to inappropriate behavior was to segregate boys and girls in classes.
These experiences drove Jacinta to take control of her children’s education. Within six weeks of starting that school year, her family began their homeschooling journey. The results were life-changing: her daughter graduated in 2020 with $105,000 in scholarships, a testament to the success of their homeschool approach.
At Truth and Purpose, Jacinta has always approached homeschooling with the professionalism of a structured academy while maintaining the flexibility and adaptability that homeschooling allows. Her children have a voice in their education, making the journey collaborative and engaging.
Over time, Truth and Purpose expanded beyond the Johnson family. Jacinta began sharing resources, advice, and support with other homeschool families in online communities. Recognizing the widespread need for clear, actionable guidance, Truth and Purpose began creating documentation to help families start their homeschool journey confidently. These materials evolved into textbooks and supplements that, as of 2024, are available for purchase online at Barnes & Noble.
Today, Truth and Purpose Homeschool Academy offers much more than curriculum support. The Training and Empowerment Series provides tools and strategies to navigate the common frustrations, doubts, and confusion that can accompany homeschooling. Families can also benefit from homeschool counseling and coaching services, tailored to meet their unique needs.
